Healthy Neighborhoods partners had the opportunity to assess where they are on the Spectrum of Community Engagement, and explore other community engagement strategies of interest during the session. Participants also learned about the “Take Back the Streets” initiative of the Syracuse Near Westside neighborhood. The initiative is a result of residents raising their voices to reduce violence, increase safety and promote peace.
This session provided a venue for partners from the Healthy Neighborhoods sites in upstate New York to share summaries, successes and lessons learned about their community engagement work. It was also a time for learning and brainstorming around current challenges and opportunities to achieve authentic community engagement.
